Iran has been a very disaster-prone country throughout its history. Wars, earthquakes, floods, droughts, inversion effects of air pollution in metropolitan have occurred many times, affected millions of people, and have claimed hundred thousands of lives during past century. Research as one of the ways to enhance preparedness and response to disasters, and plays a critical role in reduce the damages caused by them.  Accordingly, Kerman University of Medical Sciences (KMU) established its Health in Disasters and Emergencies Research Center (HDERC)  to enhance and strengthen research on the area of the protection and management of health and the environment in emergencies and disasters. This research center, which was established in 2020, is one of seven research centers that collectively form the Institute for Futures Studies in Health (IFSH).  HDERC has five full-time staff including four faculty memeber and more than 25 members including faculy memebers and Ph.D students who collaborate with the center from inside and outside of KMU.
